Book Review: 100 Amazing Tales from Aotearoa

100 Amazing Tales from Aotearoa gives readers a special look at some of the most precious, exceptional, historic and downright bizarre objects that Te Papa holds in trust for the nation.

100 Amazing Tales from Aotearoa is based on the television documentary series, Tales from Te Papa, and tells the stories of 100 items that are held at the museum. Each double-page spread is dedicated to something special that explores, explains and expands on our little country’s history so far.

100 Amazing Tales from AotearoaThere are stories of fossils, fashion and fish, weapons, war and woolen dolls. Every page unravels the tales of many fascinating aspects of our history and our art, and I spent quite some time lost amongst them.

A DVD of the television series, Tales from Te Papa, is also included, which provides further insight. This appealed to my boys more than the book; they are both too young to grasp the concept or the meaning of such a resource, but I hope that this book will become a source of information for them in the years to come.

Thank you to Te Papa Press for providing us with this copy for review purposes.
