Juicy Goodness

It’s been a long, hot summer in the south (mostly), and I’ve been spending as much time as physically possible outside, warming my pasty winter skin in the beautiful glow of the sun. I’ve been reading and gardening, and there may have been a couple of sneaky sun-naps thrown in just before Christmas as well. It’s all been thirsty work, therefore the arrival of three cartons of Just Juice Orchard for us to sample arrived at just the right time.

Tall drinks a lot of juice, so he was pretty pleased to be part of this little review. I go through phases of really enjoying juice, and luckily, the past month has seen me well-and-truly in such a phase. We’re Just Juice drinkers normally, so were more than happy to review their new premium juice range.

We started with the sweet-and-cloudy Farm Style Apple, which had a smooth, velvety apple flavour and a nice “thickness” to it. It reminded me of an amazing fresh apple juice I once had in Melbourne, which was made by pulverizing an entire apple – seeds and all – so each mouthful was intensely appley. This juice was similar, and really refreshing. I usually prefer a clear apple juice, but would certainly buy this one if I felt in the mood for an old-fashioned drop.

Next we tried the intriguing-sounding Summer Strawberry & Kiwifruit; the marketing blurb referred to this as “…heaven in a glass!”, so we had pretty high expectations. It had all the sweetness of perfectly-ripe strawberries, combined with the slight tang of kiwifruit, which made for a really interesting combination. It was a little sweet for our tastes, but it was refreshing and certainly very pretty. I don’t think we’d buy this one, as we usually stick to less complicated juices, but it was nice to try something different.

Lastly, we tried Sun Kissed Orange. Oh. My. Goodness. Talk about heaven in a glass! Thick without being pulpy, sweet without being chokingly-so…this was a definite winner in our eyes. In England, we became addicted to Tropicana juice, and have often talked wistfully of it since returning home – now, we’ve found our replacement, and you wouldn’t believe how happy this has made us. This will definitely be on the shopping list next time we’re in need of juice…I’ll probably need to buy it in bulk to avoid any squabbling!
