Tiny’s books du jour

One of Tiny’s favourite things to do is read stories. Often, if he’s been playing happily by himself, I’ll find him sitting quietly in the lounge or in his bedroom, flipping through the pages of one of his many books. Every night, we have a story-choosing ritual, where I lay about ten books on the floor, and Tiny chooses which four he wants to read. He knows the drill now, and Tall often has to hold him back until all the contenders have been laid on the floor.

The current favourites (chosen 5/7 nights) are:

Thanks to this colourful, rhyming book, Tiny learned the word, “hop”. He has a little Fisher Price person who carries a frog (mine is not to question WHY??), and whenever we ask, “Where’s Eddie?”, Tiny responds with a grin and a little “hop”.

MY favourite is the crab who likes to pretend that he’s a spy, but this isn’t about me – Tiny will flip back and forth to the page with the penguins (“waddle waddle”) and the polar bears.

This is one of the most beautifully illustrated children’s story I’ve seen in a long time!

And a good old kiwi classic:

Scarface Claw? Totally not scary. Totally the best part of the story.
